Reading is a race against the clock. Our practice is built to train pacing, not just answers.
The exact self-paced Back, Next and review panel from the real test, so the pacing you build here transfers straight to test day.
Every question comes back with the passage and an AI explanation of why the right answer is right, so mistakes teach you something.
The report shows exactly where the clock beat you, almost always inside Part 7, so you know what to fix first.
The AI coach turns your weakest question type into a targeted drill, then a fresh timed section.
Reading is a race against the clock more than a test of tricky questions. These habits move the score the most.
Aim for well under a minute each on Part 5 and 6 so you keep around 55 minutes for Part 7, where the marks are.
In Part 7, glance at what is being asked, then scan the passage for that answer instead of reading every word.
Most Part 5 questions test word form, tense, prepositions or collocation. Learn the patterns and you answer them in seconds.
There is no penalty for wrong answers, so never leave a blank. Mark your best guess and move on before you run out of time.
Reading is three parts and one clock. Here is what each part tests and how to answer it without burning the time you need for Part 7.
One sentence, one blank, four choices. Most items test word form (the same word as noun, verb or adjective), verb tense, prepositions or linking words. You rarely need the whole sentence, the words touching the blank decide it.
Short texts with four blanks, one of which is a whole missing sentence. That sentence blank tests cohesion, so pick the sentence that links what comes before and after, not just any true statement.
Single texts plus double and triple passage sets, an email with a form and a reply. Question order follows the passage, and in multi-text sets at least one answer needs two texts combined.
Reading is won on pacing. These three steps build the speed that turns a stalled Part 7 into a finished one.
Take a full Parts 5–7 section, timed, to see exactly where the clock runs out, almost always inside Part 7.
Practise answering Parts 5 and 6 in under a minute each, so you bank around 55 minutes for the 54 questions of Part 7.
The report flags the question types slowing you down. Drill them with the AI coach, then re-sit a full timed section.
