Searching for TOEIC Speaking by itself? You are not alone. In Korea and Japan the Speaking test is often required as its own score, separately from Writing, so it deserves its own explanation. Updated August 2026.
TOEIC Speaking is a standalone, online-delivered test of spoken English. You get 11 tasks in about 20 minutes, and the test is scored from 0 to 200 in 10-point increments. You speak into a microphone, every task is individually timed with a short preparation window, and you cannot go back to re-record. That single design choice is what makes it feel harder than a multiple-choice paper: you have to produce clear, organised English on the spot.
The 11 tasks fall into five predictable types: read a short text aloud (2 tasks), describe a photograph (2 tasks), respond to everyday questions (3 tasks), respond to questions using information you are given such as a schedule or agenda (3 tasks), and state and support an opinion (1 task). The first ten tasks are rated 0 to 3 and the final opinion task is rated 0 to 5. Those raw ratings are converted to the reported 0 to 200 scale, which ETS groups into proficiency levels running from beginner up to advanced.
Five task types across 11 questions, each with its own prep and speaking timer. No pausing, no second take.
Reported 0 to 200 in 10-point steps, grouped into proficiency levels. 160+ sits in the top bands strong roles look for.
Speaking rates pronunciation, fluency and completeness by voice; Writing rates grammar and organisation by text. Each is a separate 0 to 200 score, and many employers ask for only one.
In Korea, 토익스피킹 is a common hiring and promotion spec at large companies (대기업) and public bodies (공기업). In Japan it supports 就活 and 昇進 where spoken English matters. Check each employer's own level.

Understanding English isn't the same as producing it. This is the test that shows you can actually speak and write it at work.
